OUR STATISTICS (SINCE 1/2005)

Total clients registered for care: 317

Clients transferring for medical reasons: 29 (for complications or miscarriages) 

Clients transferring for non medical reasons: 50 (moving, insurance, choice)

Total clients beginning labor with us: 234

Cesarean births: 15 (6.4%)

Instrumented deliveries (vacuum, forceps) by MD: 3 (1%)

Episiotomies: 4 (2%)

Preterm birth: 6 (2%) (4 at 36 weeks)

Pitocin for labor induction or augmentation: 39 (18%)

Epidural or narcotic for labor: 40 (17%)

Attempted VBACs: 8

Successful VBACs 7 (88%)

Water labors but birth out of water: 96 (41%)

Water births: 51 (22%)

Exclusively or majority (>50%) breastfeeding at 6 weeks: 97%

Home births: 133 (57 %)

Hospital births: 98 (42%)

Other birth site: 2 (1%)

Home to hospital transfers, before or during labor, still our patient: 27 (17%)

Home to hospital transfer to another institution: 14 (9%)

PLEASE NOTE: We no longer do VBACs. Because we are now doing home births only, some of our statistics will have different meanings. For example, the category of "home to hospital transfers, still our patient" and "home to hospital transfers to another institution" will be combined when we next compile our statistics.
